Luis and I are returning to NYC for our yearly visit in May and invite you to a 9-hour intensive seminar focused on the musical "how's" of the dance: how to recognize and express different rhythms; how to capture the fluidity of melodic songs; how to translate into movement the soaring dynamics of the more modern orchestras.

Saturday, May 13th 2-4pm: Rhythm

Mastering with the staccato walk; dancing "a tierra"; rhythmic turns; interpreting rhythmic orchestras with the milonguero ease and swagger

 

Saturday, May 13th 4:30-6:30pm: Fluidity

Mastering the legato walk; creating floating turns; interpreting melodic orchestras with elegance and precision

Sunday, May 14th 2-4pm: Dynamics

Mastering the pendular walk; finding and using the elasticity of the embrace and counter-movements to create dynamics; interpreting dramatic tangos with a new set of tools for expressivity

 

 

Sunday, May 14th 4:30-6:30pm: Finding and Polishing Your Tango Voice

Transitioning between different qualities of movement to highlight different elements in the music; combining elements of each to create your own interpretation

 

Sunday, May 14th 6:30-7:30pm: Guided Practica

Putting in practice the concepts learned during the weekend, integrating them with your very own dance.
